3. Ask The New Provider To Transfer Your Benefit

To switch, apply with the new provider and tell them you already have Lifeline and want to transfer your benefit. They will ask for your details and confirm the transfer through the Lifeline system. You do not need to cancel with your old provider first.
Because you were already approved, you usually do not need to prove eligibility again, unless your annual recertification is due soon. The new provider will let you know if it needs anything else.
Once the transfer is complete, your old provider will stop your Lifeline discount. If you had any paid add-ons with them, contact them to make sure you are not billed for extras.
